Bangalore: The Karnataka government has banned the export of iron ore — a step intended to counter the Reddy brothers, who are powerful miners and state ministers.

The government’s decision on Thursday will prevent miners from transporting iron ore to ports in the neighbouring states. Chief Minister BS Yedyurappa recently threatened to ban exports from 10 ports after controversy over illegal mining spurred up.
