New Delhi: Thousands of Jats on Wednesday attempted to storm the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee office here during their protest demanding quota in jobs but were prevented by police.

The Jat Mahasabha, which is spearheading the protest, threatened that they will try everything possible to disrupt the sporting extravaganza if their demand was not met with.

Carrying torches similar to that of the Games, the protesters marched towards the Games’ headquarters from their protest site, a few hundred metres away at Jantar Mantar, but were prevented by police from marching ahead.

MUMBAI: Tata Communications today
posted a consolidated net loss at Rs 281 crore for the quarter ended June 30,
2010.
The company had a net loss of Rs 55 crore in the same period of
the previous fiscal, Tata Communications said in a filing to the Bombay Stock

New Delhi: The Central Vigilance Commission has said almost all organisations executing infrastructure works for the Commonwealth Games 2010 have flouted tender norms. Contractors have been paid higher than justified price. Despite higher prices, work done is poor and also delayed, there is no guarantee of quality. Test records are fabricated to show compliance and hide poor quality of work. Concrete used in various stadiums has failed to meet strength requirements. Poor concrete poses a risk to life for participating athletes and spectators too.
